PSA: Freelancedom Forums

Worrying about being all talk and no action, I decided to finally get off my butt this weekend and set up forums for Freelancedom.

I had initially intended to integrate forum software with WordPress, but was having trouble on that end. I mean, I’m not the most web-savvy individual out there. So I finally admitted defeat and set up a forum hosted through Activeboard.

The downsides? A banner ad up top, and no link back to Freelancedom.

So I’m not sold on this, but I’d like you guys to check it out…see how it works…let me know about any problems in functionality…

Also, let me know about any category gaps you’d like me to fill in. This is basically a rough draft, and can be updated at any time.

In the meantime, I might test out other forum hosts, and link to them in future posts, so that we can all compare and contrast.

There’s a link to the forums in the sidebar as well.

Let me know how it goes!

  1. Looks pretty good to me! But I agree that not being able to link back to your blog is a big negative. Can your tech-savvy hubby add a button at the top?

I don’t think I’d have a lot to contribute to such a forum as I’m not a freelancer (unless you count temping), but I could provide some advice on contracts/invoices from ‘the other side’ because I’ve been working in the area of contracting/procurement for a gov’t agency for the past year. My top tip – get your invoices in on time and with the proper identification (e.g contract number)!
