Link Love: September 11

This week’s link love is quite brief, but that’s probably best. After all, I’m about to set out for two more vineyards (in hurricane/tornado weather no less)! Wish me luck!

Last Week’s Link Love: September 6

It’s been quite the month, but I can finally breathe again. Thursday was the last day of my temporary, on-site proofreading gig, and Friday was the due date of a legwork-heavy magazine article. Since then, I’ve (finally) signed up for a career coaching certification program, and also turned my attention to another legwork-heavy magazine article (and by legwork, I mean traveling all over my home state and drinking lots of wine; tough stuff).

I’m about to head out to two more wineries today but, before I go, I thought I’d leave you with this past week’s link love:

Last Week’s Link Love: August 24

Oh you guys. I am sooo pooped. I got home at 1 a.m. last night after an 11.5-hour drive during which I was crammed into the middle back seat of a car between my mother-in-law and my sister-in-law.

Link Love: July 18

What’s notable this week? Well, I gots myself a laptop (early birthday gift from my husband) and I also dove in to Freelance Success‘s Summer Query Challenge, which is acting as a great motivator for non-blog-related activities. Of course, all blog-related activities have suffered.

I’ll admit it. I haven’t been blogging much lately. I blame summer. And visiting relatives. And lazy afternoons. And Broadway shows and new restaurants.

I also blame the fact that I’m not quite sure what direction I’m moving in anymore. I’m working on an article for Time Out NY, starting to become a regular face at Lemondrop, and helming a new blog over at Nerve. But it’s not enough. And I’m not quite sure how I want to supplement my income.

When one is not moving in new directions, it’s tough to find new freelance questions to answer. Help me out: Let me know what you’re dying to know.

In the meantime, here’s this week’s link love:

My 5 Favorite Things In: ProBlogger

problogger

I’m a bit of a booktard.

I started out with Golden Books, moved on to Nancy Drew, graduated to John Saul, V.C. Andrews, and Stephen King, and finally ended up with Barbara Kingsolver, Lorrie Moore, etc.

When thoughts of freelancedom completely hijacked my brain, I naturally moved on to how-tos. Now, to show my gratitude, I feel I ought to highlight some of the books that got me to this point.

This week, I thought I’d mention ProBlogger: Secrets for Blogging Your Way to a Six-Figure Income by Darren Rowse of ProBlogger and Chris Garrett of chrisg. While most of you may not necessarily aim to be career bloggers, I believe it’s a great tool to have in your belt when trying to launch your own business. After all, blogs can showcase your talents, acting as a virtual portfolio. Or they can function as promotional tools. Or they can keep present clients updated on your business. My five favorite things in this book?
